Summary: BLB and CSPC Shengxue plan to produce HMOs.

Biology Co., Ltd. (BLB) decided to launch a project to produce 2,500
t/a of human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). On 9 March, the environmental
impact report of this project was publicised.
Project overview:
Construction nature: new construction
Total investment: USD29.16 million (RMB207.20 million), of which USD220,943 (RMB1.57 million) for environmental protection
Location: BLB's South Factory, Dezhou National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Yucheng City, Shandong Province
Construction content:
convert the existing workshops
build supporting facilities and storage facilities
purchase 93 sets of equipment for fermentation, purification, evaporation, etc.
Production capacity:
2,000 t/a of 2′-fucosyllactose (2′-FL)
500 t/a of lacto-N-neotetraose (LNnT)
Consumption of main raw materials:
7,500 t/a of glucose
2,700 t/a of lactose
Labour quota: 60 employees (10 technical management personnel and 50 production workers)
Working system: three 8hr shifts per day, totalling 300 working days a year
Scheduled progress: it is expected that the construction will be completed and the production will begin in Feb. 2026.
In
the meantime, BLB is preparing for the inspection of its "5,000 t/a
resistant dextrin upgrading project" and "60,000 t/a sprayed corn gluten
meal project" after it completed the construction and equipment
installation.
CSPC
Shengxue Glucose Co., Ltd. (CSPC Shengxue) also has an "HMOs production
line project". According to the environmental impact assessment
information of this project made public on 8 March, the expansion
project will be carried out in CSPC Shengxue's existing factory in the
Shijiazhuang Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park, Shijiazhuang City,
Hebei province. CSPC Shengxue will purchase fermentors, separators and
other equipment to produce 100 t/a of HMOs by fermentation and
purification.
